You already have a Shopify theme — Dawn, Impulse, Prestige, Symmetry, or any of the others. It works, but it doesn’t feel custom. We refine Shopify themes into something that feels brand-specific, with the Liquid customizations, performance work, and Gulf payment integration most agencies skip.
Customization vs custom theme — when each makes sense
If you have a well-built starting theme and need design refinements, custom sections, payment work and performance improvements, customization is the right path. Faster, lower cost, and you keep the benefit of the theme author’s ongoing updates.
If you need a fundamentally different storefront architecture — non-standard product configurators, complex bundling, headless setup, very specific Liquid logic — full Shopify development from scratch is usually the better investment. We’ll tell you which scenario you’re in after a short audit.
What our Shopify customization covers
- Custom Liquid sections — product configurators, lookbooks, bundles, gift cards, recently-viewed, custom hero blocks
- Theme design refinement — typography, spacing, colour, layout adjustments that make the theme feel ownable
- Product page customization — additional content blocks, custom tabs, related products, ingredients/specs sections
- Collection page improvements — better filtering UX, custom sort options, banner sections, collection-level content
- Cart and mini-cart customization — upsell blocks, shipping calculators, gift options, trust messaging
- Checkout extension (Shopify Plus only) — proper checkout customization with Shopify Functions
- Gulf payment setup — Tabby, Tamara, Tap, PayTabs, Telr properly integrated with cart and product-page messaging
- Arabic RTL refinement — typography fixes, mirrored layouts, bilingual content blocks
- Performance pass — heavy app audit, image pipeline, Liquid optimization, asset loading
- SEO improvements — see our technical SEO work for the detail
How customization engagements run
A typical engagement is 2–4 weeks. Week one is audit — what theme you’re using, what apps are installed, what works, what doesn’t. You receive a written scope before we start building.
We work in a development theme (Shopify’s built-in mechanism for safe customization) so changes don’t affect your live store until they’re ready. Each section or change is reviewed on staging before going live. You see progress in your Shopify admin throughout.
On launch, your theme is documented — what was customized, where, and how to extend it. If you want ongoing care, our Shopify maintenance plan covers theme updates, app management, and small monthly enhancements.
What customization usually achieves
- A storefront that doesn’t look like the demo theme everyone else uses
- Faster page loads — most Shopify themes ship with more than they need, and trimming pays off in Lighthouse and conversion
- Better mobile conversion — typography, button sizing, trust messaging, payment options visible where they need to be
- Cleaner Liquid — easier for any future developer (yours or ours) to extend or modify
- A store that survives Shopify’s ongoing platform updates without breaking
Frequently asked questions
Which Shopify themes do you customize?
Most modern themes built on the Online Store 2.0 architecture — Dawn, Impulse, Prestige, Symmetry, Refresh, Sense, Studio, Crave, Origin, and others. We’re cautious about very old Shopify themes (pre-2.0) because customization options are more limited; in those cases we usually recommend moving to a current theme first.
Can you turn my Shopify store from English-only to bilingual Arabic and English?
Yes. We set up Arabic RTL theme support, configure Shopify Markets or Langify, handle Arabic typography properly, mirror layouts where appropriate, and migrate content into both languages. This is a frequent project for Gulf-based stores — read more on our Shopify development page.
Will my customizations survive theme updates?
Yes, when done properly. Modifications inside the theme code are isolated and documented so they can be re-applied if you choose to update the parent theme. Custom Liquid sections work independently of theme updates. Changes that would conflict with future updates are flagged in the documentation we provide.
Can you customize the Shopify checkout?
Yes — on Shopify Plus, where checkout customization is supported via checkout extensions and Shopify Functions. On standard Shopify, checkout customization is limited by Shopify’s platform restrictions; we can customize cart and pre-checkout flows, but the checkout itself is largely standard. If checkout customization is critical to your business, that’s usually a reason to consider Plus.
Can you integrate Tabby, Tamara and other Gulf payment methods?
Yes. Tabby (BNPL), Tamara (BNPL and instalments), Tap, PayTabs, Telr, Mada, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Cash on Delivery — all properly integrated with cart and product-page messaging. This is a routine part of customization for Gulf-based stores.
How much does Shopify theme customization cost?
Focused customization typically falls in the low-to-mid four-figure USD range. Larger engagements with multiple custom sections, performance work and bilingual setup scale from there. We send a fixed-fee quote within two working days of receiving your brief.
